Stress comes with the territory of being a boss and just like with everything else, we know exactly how to handle it! DO WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD! We all have a process that works for us and that process is different for everyone. The key is to figure out what works for you. Don’t try to do what everyone else does to handle stress, just do you! Let’s talk about some of the options that could work for you!
PRIORITIZE YOUR PRIORITIES
Organization and planning is key! Take a moment to sit down and plan out a weekly schedule. ALWAYS WRITE THINGS DOWN. Part of the organization process is writing things down; write everything down! To-do lists grow every day, every hour. It’s so simple to just write things down, and avoid stressing yourself out by trying to memorize all of your tasks. Whether you’re old fashioned with pen and paper or prefer a digital format for staying organized, you have plenty of options.
- DOWNLOAD APPS: Checkout your app store and use search words such as “planner”, “organizer”, and “calendar”. You’ll see numerous apps you can choose from to help you with your planning and organization.
- PHYSICAL PLANNER: If you prefer to write things down, purchase a planner that can easily travel with you everywhere you go. You never know when you’ll need to write things down. Be sure that it has space for your schedule, to do lists, and notes.
- ONE MAIN SOURCE: However you choose to organize and plan your days, make sure that you’re sticking to one main source to access it all. If you choose too many different methods, organization will be disrupted.
WORKOUT
Get your workout in. Whether you’re into boxing, yoga, running, dancing, strength training, or simply just walking and stretching, staying active is one of the best ways to relieve your stress. Exercise is proven to lift your mood and increase your energy. Aiming for at least 30 minutes of physical activity everyday is sure to bring positivity into your life.
- DOWNLOAD APPS: Numerous workout apps are available for free. Search for HIIT or Boot Camp apps for the most intense workouts.
- YOUTUBE: Youtube is also great for intense workout videos, but it’s even more amazing to follow along with dance and yoga instructors. Most of the videos you find here provide detailed instructions and show you all the moves step by step!
- INSTAGRAM: Surprisingly, Instagram has become a great source for free workouts. Search for and follow fitness enthusiasts who post live workout videos.
- SOCIALIZE: Plan a walk with a buddy to also give you the opportunity to socialize. If your friends aren’t close by, schedule a time to complete a virtual physical activity together. Facetime is also great and keeping in touch with loved ones while going on a walk.
Overall, physical activity offers only benefits to your daily lifestyle. Better moods, increased energy levels, health improvement, maintaining a healthy weight and a stress reliever!
SLEEP
Getting a good night’s rest is absolutely vital. Waking up well rested is the first step toward a productive day, every day. In order to do so, you need to get a goodnight’s rest, this will also take away the itch to hit the snooze button in the morning. Here’s a few tips to help you out.
- CHAMOMILE TEA: Chamomile is a natural remedy that has been used to treat insomnia. Sipping just one cup of this tea will help you fall asleep with ease.
- WIND DOWN ROUTINE: Start preparing for bed at least 30 mins before bedtime to create your wind down routine. Turn off all screens at least one hour before bedtime, complete your nighttime facial, brush your teeth, and comb your hair. Do whatever relaxes you most to prepare for bed and include it as part of your nightly routine.
TEMPERATURE: In order to fall asleep, you have to be comfortable. Room temperature is essential to being comfortable in bed. If it’s too hot, turn on a fan or your AC unit. If it’s too cold, grab a blanket or turn on your heater. Make an effort to find your comfortable temperature because it will highly contribute to your goodnight’s rest.
MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF
- SOCIALIZE: We are social creatures and connections with those around us can truly be healing. Whether you just want to talk non-stop or are seeking actual advice, letting it out will relieve an unbelievable amount of stress! If what’s stressing you out is the last thing you want to talk about with others, reach out to someone just to check on how they’re doing. Allow them to lead you away from your stress by engaging in whatever they have going on. Allowing yourself to distract yourself by socializing in any manner is what will effectively lead you away from the enemy of stress!
- PAMPER: This is absolutely one of the most important things you can do for yourself! As a boss, you most likely spend the day taking care of others’ needs. Before you know it, the day is over and you’ve done absolutely nothing that has taken care of your own needs. Dedicate at least one full day for self-care appointments. Whether it’s your hair, your nails, a massage or a facial, get it done!
- HEALTHY TREATS: Be sure to take care of your health during all the chaos in your life. Try a juice cleanse or any detox tea to recharge. You can also try meditating for a couple of mins per day. Taking care of your mind and body is just as important as everything else you have going on.
- DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY: If staying home to binge watch your favorite show while splurging on your favorite snack is your version of self-care, that’s great! As long as you are happy, do it!
